Call for Teaching Artists

Are you interested in working as a teaching artist in the Prince William County in the near future? Do you have an art or talent you would like to teach to others? Prince William Arts Council is looking to build a pre-qualified roster of teaching artists to facilitate workshops and classes for individuals and families across the County. The teaching artist will follow the mission of PWC Arts Council to transform community, in the Greater Prince William County, Manassas, Manassas Park, and beyond through ancestral knowledge, the arts, literacy and creative engagement. PWC Arts Council believes that it is everyone’s right to explore and develop their innate creative gifts. We are open to all art forms.

Qualified individuals must:

  • Submit resume with a cover letter to Janet LaFleur
  • In cover letter include statement on why you would be a good fit or why you are interested in working with PWC Arts Council
  • Sample of portfolio and curriculum is recommended
  • Specify age preference and experience
  • Adaptable to change
  • Be knowledgeable on working through virtual platforms (i.e. zoom)
  • Have experience in an arts field. We welcome artists across all disciplines
  • Demonstrate arts-related activities that can be done at home
  • Be engaging, fun, and encouraging of participants creativity!

We are building a roster of resources and will be looking for teaching artists on an on-going basis in all creative disciplines.

PWC Arts Council has many opportunities for annual programming. Typically, classes should be 1-2 hours, held once or twice a week, anywhere from 6-10 weeks or a single workshop of 2 hours. Pay rates will vary on the teaching artist’s experience.

Examples of classes, workshops, and projects PWC arts has done in the past, but are not limited to:

  • Visual Arts- Pricing your work and preparing your work for exhibition
  • Theatre – Acting Classes for youth and adults
  • Photography
  • Performing Arts – theatre
  • Music – voice
  • Special Effects Makeup
  • Creative Writing, Poetry
  • Youth mentorship, youth leadership
