Bull Run Troubadours

Who We Are

The Bull Run Troubadours is the Prince William Chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society, a men’s chorus dedicated to the harmonious blend of Barbershop Music. The Barbershop Harmony Society, about 25,000 strong, is the largest all-male singing organization in the world. The Bull Run Troubadours was chartered, initially, in 1957 and has sung Barbershop music in Prince William County continuously since.

Our members come from all walks of life but have one thing in common, a love of singing. And why do we sing? We sing for:

Fellowship

Male companionship in a wholesome family-like environment is conducive to friendship and the establishment of bonds that can last for a lifetime. Members enjoy that unique sense of belonging that comes from shared positive experiences and team membership.

Challenge

Singing well is perhaps its own reward, but singing well enough to contribute to a truly engaging and entertaining public performance is something really special.

Performing

Music reaches the human spirit in a way that words and pictures never can. Watching that happen to an audience as you perform a spirited up tune or moving love song is as addictive as winning in any team activity.

Learning/teaching

Mastering the intricacies of four part a cappella harmony in an environment conducive to learning helps our members stay young and mentally alert.

What We Do

The Bull Run Troubadours (BRT) perform at various locations throughout Prince William County throughout the year with a repertoire of music spanning religious, Christmas, patriotic, Broadway, and good oldies from earlier eras. Every year, on the last Tuesday of August, we host “Dog Days”, a free public event, where we invite other chapters from Northern Virginia to join us for an evening of wonderful Barbershop harmony and fellowship. During the year we perform at such places as Adult Day Care Centers, Nursing Homes, Senior Centers, the Harris Pavilion in Manassas, the Town of Occoquan at Thanksgiving and Christmas, church services, Sentara Hospital, Prince William Hospital, the NOVEC Annual Meeting, Quartets on Valentine’s Day, Community Centers and home games of the Potomac Nationals where we sing the National Anthem before the games.

Who We Serve

The Bull Run Troubadours is a man’s a Capella chorus open to males of all ages who like to sing and perform. No auditions are necessary. The only pre-requisite is a desire to sing good close harmony with a male chorus in the Barbershop harmony style.
