Virginia National Ballet / Gainesville Ballet School is a values based arts organization offering the finest instruction and performance opportunities in a friendly, supportive, family atmosphere, led by husband and wife Elysabeth Muscat Hegab and Rafik Hegab. We offer outstanding, professional dance instruction in a beautiful facility, where students are showcased along with professional dancers in performances at the Hylton Performing Arts Center.
Virginia National Ballet recently relocated into a new, state of the art new facility with 4,700 square feet housing two spacious dance studios with Stage Step sprung flooring and Harlequin marley non slip surfaces, a music studio, two large waiting areas, a stretch/lounge area for dancers, two dressing rooms, 3 restrooms, water fountains, free wi-fi access, live video feed from the studios into the waiting room, and ample parking in a safe area.
The curriculum includes pre-professional ballet, pointe, pas de deux, variations, character, modern, jazz, hip hop, lyrical, pre ballet, open ballet classes, adult ballet classes, Mommy and Me classes, Special Needs dance classes, as well as private and group lessons in voice, and private piano lessons. Music classes are taught by Managing Director Elysabeth Muscat, a former professional opera singer who is also Chair of the Peabody Preparatory Voice Department. Classes are offered Monday through Saturday.
Virginia National Ballet Company is a member of the Prince William Arts Council and is currently is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit corporation. The School was originally founded in 2005, and was recognized as an outstanding arts organization in 2012, when it was awarded the Seefeldt Award for Arts Excellence by the Prince William Arts Council. The new Directors have completely revitalized the organization with the new facility, new and expanded excellent faculty and staff, much broader dance curriculum, new music program, master classes, performances at the Hylton Performing Arts Center, the new professional company with nonprofit status, and the establishment of a special needs program.
